Aldushkin Sergei

“I try to work as my soul guides me. I see nature, and I cannot bring myself to spoil it.”

A deeply perceptive watercolor artist, Sergei Aldushkin developed his craft at the art college in Yoshkar-Ola and later at the Surikov Institute in Moscow, where he was admitted only after several attempts. His education taught him to recognize beauty and value in the ordinary.

After spending time in major cities and traveling extensively around the world, Aldushkin returned to his native Morozkino.

He is a true master of watercolor painting, working within the traditions of the Russian realist school. At first glance, his works may seem strikingly simple, but the longer you look, the more their clear contours begin to reveal deeper layers of meaning.

Watercolor does not tolerate hesitation, and once it dries, nothing can be corrected. This is why the artist is able to so delicately capture fleeting transformations constantly taking place in nature. He observes landscapes and the people who inhabit them with remarkable sensitivity, noticing moments where vivid movement and contrast come alive.

His portraits are imbued with a certain childlike kindness. His landscapes are immersive, drawing the viewer into the very places where they were created.

Many ask the artist to teach them to handle watercolor with such ease. He generously shares his knowledge, though he does not consider it teaching. He believes that everything should come naturally, and he takes genuine pleasure in observing the works of those who follow his path.

Aldushkin is loved not only in his native village, but far beyond it, not just for the way he celebrates his homeland through watercolor, but also for being a sincere and deeply feeling person.
