Elena Bobrova was born in 1983 in Omsk. She graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Omsk State Pedagogical University in 2005 and completed her postgraduate studies in 2010. She is a multiple laureate of national and international exhibitions and competitions in painting, photography, architecture, and design. Her works are held in museum collections worldwide, as well as in private collections across Russia and Europe.
Elena’s painting is distinguished by its temperament, dynamism, and bold technique. Her works are highly textured, with an open, tactile surface. The color palette of most of her paintings is vivid and насыщенная, often evoking associations with the Impressionists. A recurring compositional device in her work is the division of the canvas along a diagonal or vertical axis through contrasts of light and shadow.
“I have noticed something: once a painting is created, it begins to live its own life. If you leave it aside for a long time and then return to it, you can sense that it has already experienced its own joys and sorrows. An artist releases a new life into the world — and that is a great responsibility.”
Reflection is an essential part of Elena’s practice: “If I speak about myself, I do not set accusatory goals. Perhaps, in the traditions of Russian art, I engage in introspection — something akin to Dostoevsky’s depth of psychological inquiry. The human being is the most complex and fascinating mystery. It has always been so, and it always will be. This theme is inexhaustible.”
