Ivetta Lokhmatova was born in 1982 in the city of Kurgan. She graduated from the Nicholas Roerich Art School and later from the Repin Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg.
Lokhmatova is a distinctive artist working at the intersection of realism and impressionism. Her works are vivid and dynamic. An intuitive painter, she does not plan her compositions in advance. Instead, she is drawn to fleeting, ever-changing states — capturing transient light and shifting moods is at the core of her artistic practice. For this reason, her paintings cannot be predetermined; they evolve together with the subject itself.
Ivetta is not an urban artist and openly admits that she feels more at ease in nature. It is precisely this connection to the natural world that defines her artistic focus, allowing her to preserve a genuine emotional presence in her work. In her landscapes, she is particularly interested in complex, rapidly changing states.
Her work reflects a deep connection to the traditions of Russian realism, as well as a clear affinity with artists such as Levitan and Korovin.
Lokhmatova is a member of the Saint Petersburg Union of Artists and a преподаватель (lecturer) at the Repin Academy of Arts. Her works are held in state museums and private collections around the world.
