Daria Kollegova was born in 1960 in Leningrad. She graduated from the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture of the USSR Academy of Arts, where she has been teaching painting for over thirty years. She is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. Her works are held in museums in Russia, China, and Korea, as well as in private collections.
One of the prominent representatives of the contemporary academic school, Daria Kollegova approaches tradition as a living material. Her painting — encompassing landscapes, portraits, and still lifes — is marked by a paradoxical approach and a strong sense of inner freedom. For the artist, there are no forbidden forms, color combinations, or compositional structures.
Treating painting as a way of understanding the world, Kollegova believes that the path to knowledge lies through experimentation and process. Her visual language is distinguished by boldness, refined aesthetics, and a sense of metaphor. Her artistic practice is in constant development, moving through rapid and often unexpected stages of inner evolution.
